The Black Salon
As the only Black student in my major, I was keenly aware of the isolation I felt and wanted to channel that energy into creating something meaningful. Thus, I conceptualized The Black Salon - an app concept designed specifically for Black students attending predominantly white institutions. The app would functions much like Instagram or Facebook, but with a unique focus on connecting Black students with one another within their own schools and beyond.
The platform is student-led, which means that users can easily find events posted by fellow Black students, for fellow Black students. It's a space where the Black community can come together, share their experiences, and find support in a world that too often makes them feel marginalized.
